Replacement power supply for Dell XPS L701X
Ordered this power supply to replace the original for my Dell laptop because I started getting a message that said that the power supply was not recognized as a Dell product and that the battery would not be charged. After doing some online research I determined that this problem is frequently due to a broken wire in the power supply cable that supplies the identification of the supply to the computer when it is plugged in. In my case the problem started immediately after I accidentally pulled the power cable out of the back of the laptop so it seem likely that the problem was in fact due to a broken wire. This product exactly matched the original and seems to work fine. I no longer get the warning message and the battery is now being charged. The quality seems fine. I am very satisfied with the product.

ORIGINAL CHARGER FOR MY DELL E6440.-
I tried to buy this charger from Dell directly but they were never able to deliver after weeks long. Amazon had it, the original at a much better price. My LapTop is a Dell Latitude E6440 purchased in 2015.

Fair review
After reading the reviews, it was either this or 115$ off of the dell website. So i went with this.I was surprised after reading all the reviews, because the one i got from dell was about equal or worse quality.my original charger led came out after about 3 months and after about 8 months the cord is faulty and hardly works. As for this cord it looks to be the same quality so i dont know how long it will last but for 30 bucks I give it a pass asit works and everything. I will update my review as time goes by but for now, excellent replacement, no problemsworks as promised.

Do a thorough check before buying.
Good OEM charger. BUT before you buy, make sure this is the problem. After buying this, I still had problem with my battery charging. Turns out there are a zilliion things that make a Dell not charge and it may not be the cord. Do a Google search and try all the suggestions including plugging into another plug–really!I am so glad that I switched to Mac a couple years ago. So many less things going wrong now that I made the change. Still use my Dell to publish my internet files since that program will not work on a Mac.

Works well
My Dell Precision workstation came with a charger that plugged into my only USB-C port.I wanted to free up the port to use a portable second monitor. This charger was the cheapest solution and it works well. I keep it in my travel bag, which is very convenient. Buy one. 👍🏼

Working properly until now, no incorrect charger detected error messages. Will be updating the review soon.
I am going to re-review it again and update the current review as per the changes. It is genuine dell charger, have checked the specs online on the Dell website as well. I bought this charger as my laptop charging connector was falling apart in pieces as its been 4 yrs when I brought my Dell XPS 15 L502x. The charger fits perfectly, as soon as I plugged in the charger till now I have not got the message of incorrect charger detected. Still my battery didn’t charge not even to 10%, it was saying plugged in, charging or sometimes it was saying plugged in, not charging. I researched over the internet and followed some threads, they said it was a software problem, tried every possible way like resetting BIOS – didn’t work, uninstalling and reinstalling battery drivers – didn’t work, removed battery – plugged in charger – restarting – shutting down – putting up batter again – restarting – reinstalling battery drivers – didn’t work. Finally I gave up trying to resolve the software issue, and ordered the new 9 cell battery from amazon which is arriving today. Once it arrives, I’ll be testing it thoroughly with this charger. Will update the review as per. If this one doesn’t work then it’s going back to amazon warehouse for sure with a single * with itself.P.S. Thoroughly check your battery and charger before ordering any of those from Dell, they suck and also are way expensive than what is offered on Amazon.

Received broken, but still works
When I received it I immediately noticed that the connection point was broken. It still works and charges well, but it doesn’t light up blue like it should, and I’m concerned about the charger’s longevity. I ordered a slightly different one off Amazon a while back that had great reviews but didn’t have the Dell logo and everything on it, and it only lasted about 8 months; my original charger lasted over 6 years. Let’s hope this one lasts a while.

The OEM power cord split at the connector, so this offered a very good replacement. Replacement. The tip lights up just like the original and it supplies power to my laptop. Those were my needs and this product fulfilled them.

Fabulous and MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE SPECS!!!
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 (15R). My old adapter just “blew up” as in there was a large bang! and the adapter stopped working. Probably because of some high electric surge or overheating. Anyway, that adapter lasted me ~3 years.I checked the specs of the adapter that came with the computer and made sure that this one had the exact same. This one is exactly the same except for the model name. When I got it, I plugged the adapter in and my computer was up and running again.WORD OF ADVICE: CHECK THE INPUT VOLTAGE AND CURRENT AND OUTPUT VOLTAGE AND CURRENT BEFORE BUYING AN ADAPTER!!!! Check it against your old adapter (or whatever adapter that was working with your computer)!!! These are crucial specs to ensure that your adapter will work. For the reviewers who says it does not work, be cautious because they may have purchased the wrong adapter with the wrong specs. So people, CHECK THE SPECS!!

Appears to be Authentic, Works Perfect with My 7559
I was hesitant to buy this because the price was so low (they’re asking $70 on the Dell website), which I figured meant it was either counterfeit or the wrong product. I looked around and decided it was worth the risk. I was not disappointed, the product appears to be authentic and worked without any errors when I plugged it in. It even has the blue LED indicator so you know at a glance if it’s receiving wall power. My computer’s performance now EXCEEDS its previous performance (in terms of framerate while gaming and CPU speed), which may mean my Dell adapter was failing a lot earlier than expected (which is a shame, the PC is less than a year old and I didn’t mistreat the power cord). So for anyone with a Dell Inspiron 7559, rest assured that this product WILL work for you. I have confirmed it!I will be sure to update this review if the product fails or anything goes wrong.

Cord shorter than most laptop chargers. Harder to plug in from desk in classroom.
I repurchased the charger that came with my dell laptop. The original broke by the laptop plug and was sparking, so I replaced it with something offbrand that stopped working after 6 months due to wattage issues. This one works better than the offbrand options without a doubt. I hate how short the cord is – that is why the original became damaged over time. I wish they’d add 1-2 feet to the cord to make it easier to plug it in bedside and use the laptop on a queen bed, or even a school desk.

My house didn’t burn down, so there’s that.
Saved my house from being burned to the ground. Had a wayward Burningmanned tank-girl-looking fire-spinner/stagehand/roadie person of self-disclaimed gender staying in an extra room at my house for um… a little bit longer than we originally thought it was going to be. (We’re friends and she’s cool and chill, but sometimes not really that bright…)Anyway, I came home one day and put down the grocery bags in the kitchen and saw her on the couch in the living room looking intently at something she was having a hard time twisting on or off.”What are you working on, there?””Nothing” <- first red flagHer twisting on or off motion stopped and I saw that she had her laptop computer's power adapter end in one hand. As she was setting it down, her other hand picked up a piece of aluminum foil, (<- second red flag) which she began held in front of her folding between fingers like she was trying to roll a super precision joint (for some reason), tongue sticking out and a winced eye as she folds it into a flat aluminum bar. She picked up the power adapter <- third red flag and started trying to wrap the aluminum bar around the end of the oddly-shaped laptop-end of the power adapter."Um, what are you doing?""My laptop power thing died, and I'm trying to fix it.""With aluminum foil? Are you serious?""What," she said with a "yeah, I know, totally stupid, right?" glimmer in her eye. Burners like to say "Safety Third!" right before they gleefully tempt fate in one way or another, which seems more like taunting fate than termpting her. Anyway, I digress."You're going to McGuyver your power adapter with aluminum foil, a paperclip, and some gum? Your power adapter that you use on my (albeit extra) bed, in my ALL-WOODEN-HOUSE. You do see that the floors and the wood paneling in every room of this house are all made out of wood, right? You've heard the term 'electrical fire' before, right?""Um, yeah...""Um, no. You are going to get on Amazon right now and order a new one right now. It'll be here tomorrow. This is a lame conversation. And you're not allowed to use your laptop in bed until it gets here. Do you agree? Hey, look at me in the eyes, do you agree?""Sure. Hey, do you think you could buy it on your credit card and I can pay you back in cash on Friday?"So I bought this thing and it worked. Thanks for being, there, Dell, to sell us replacement parts for your achy-breaky-crap.At least my house didn't burn down. So... 5 stars, Dell. 39 people found this helpful

Works great. Sparks a little, but who doesn’t like a little firework show now and then?
Here’s a cautionary tale for people with laptops: if your charging cable has a light indicator and it suddenly stops working and then you’re computer says it can’t recognize the AC power supply you’re using, get a new AC adapter immediately.I have a Dell XPS 15 L501x with a quad core Intel Core i7 processor. This laptop rocks. As a classical guitarist and a pianist, my fingers are sensitive to the feel of keyboards, and the keyboard on this puppy is awesome. It’s firm but not overly firm, and it gives that satisfying little click without being too loud. The JBL speakers kick ass over anything I’ve heard on other laptops. And the screen? It rivals any screen out there.UPDATE (10/3/2015):I joked before about the sparking that occurs when you plug this into an outlet. Well, I guess I shouldn’t have joked about it because suddenly when I plugged it in, the light on the far end of the cord (i.e. the circular blue light) would go on for a second and then go off, and no power was running through it. I checked all the connections and couldn’t find a problem. The problem? The sparking destroyed the outlet. But when I plugged this unit into a different outlet, the lovely sparking occurred and the power brick worked. Very bizarre. So, I’m changing this from a 4-star to a 3-star rating. This also demonstrates a problem with reviews on Amazon: The original review and rating should stay up but get pushed down the viewing queue as more recent updates and potentially changed ratings are created. It’s good to see the history of things. Why talk about my laptop? Because all of this high-end tech requires a lot of energy.About a year after I received this laptop, the little blue light ring on the AC adapter cord wouldn’t turn on. At that time, my laptop was under warranty. It was under what I call the “Cadillac of all warranties” which is Dell’s “full” on-site warranty. There’s a reason why I’m reluctant to unequivocally call it a full warranty, but I’ll get to that in a little while. So I called Dell, and the technician assured me that the light going off meant nothing. It was kind of like one Christmas light on the tree going out. So, I’m thinking, “Damn, if the light means nothing, then why is it there?” I’ve had other Dell laptops previously, and none of them had any lights on the AC adapter cable. Then shortly after that, my laptop started getting wonky. How wonky? Dell had to send someone out to my house 3 times to replace the motherboard. Seriously, thank god I had the full extended warranty. And also, how much did those three visits and the 3 new motherboards cost Dell? But finally the problem seemed to subside. Then for a couple of years, I would occasionally see this error message pop up on my screen at startup saying that the AC adapter couldn’t be recognized. That seemed strange because my laptop was clearly drawing power from the plugged in AC cord. Then about 6 months ago, all hell broke loose. Seriously, I was in the middle of writing a book, and my laptop kept freezing and/or shutting down. And I could never predict when it was going to happen. Fortunately I backed up my hard drive, and then I realized that maybe the whole problem was my hard drive, so I got a new sweet 1TB Western Digital hard drive, cracked open my laptop, installed it, and prayed for the best. That kind of solved the frequency of the problem, but the laptop was still freezing and/or shutting down at least 3 times a day (note: before it was freaking out every 30 minutes). Then I decided to get a new AC adapter. Guess what? Those messages at startup about my laptop not being able to recognize my AC adapter suddenly disappeared. Also, my laptop works a lot better.Of course, the one thing about this genuine Dell power adapter is that every 5 or 10 times I plug it into the wall, it sparks a bit. Who knows what causes that? I’m pretty sure it’s not the fact that I’ve been carrying around a bit more static charge as I’m trying to wean myself off of Bounce anti-static dryer sheets because I’ve heard some negative things about them. People tell me that I have a bit of an electrifying personality. But could the electricity from my personality be somehow tunneling into the rubber of the AC adapter as I plug the thing into the wall outlet and causing a little fireworks display? Hmm….But at least my laptop works, for the most part.I’ve troubleshot the hell out of this situation, and my final conclusion is that all of the craziness that was going on was caused by the AC adapter not working properly (note: the Dell tech told me that these things are only rated to work properly for 1 year, and that’s why the warranty for the adapter is only for one year, even though I bought the full service warranty for 3 years. Somehow, Dell consistently fails to mention this when you are in the process of ordering a new laptop from their online store. My best guess is that using the improperly working AC adapter caused a problem with power management by the motherboard. And so now, even though I’ve got the AC adapter problem fixed, the current motherboard is still damaged from all the time I was using my previous AC adapter while it was functioning suboptimally. How do I know? Because whenever I use anything that is a bit graphics-intensive (e.g. looking at an online course for Udemy, trying to watch Hulu, or even loading onto the Sports Illustrated website), my laptop freezes immediately like water thrown off the balcony of an apartment in Siberia during the winter.I suppose I could just replace the motherboard, but a new motherboard for this dog costs around $400. Hell, for that much I could get just about get a decent new Dell laptop (note: $400 for the new XPS 15 model with the Skylake processor coming out soon is probably just going to get me the 3-year extended warranty with a little change left over for the actual laptop). What I wish is that a few years ago the Dell tech had said, “Doobie, if that little blue light goes out on your AC adapter, you’ve got to change it, even if it means changing it every year.” It would have saved a me a whole lot of time, pain and money, but I probably would still be upset that Dell can make a world-class laptop (and I consider the XPS 15 a world-class laptop), but it can’t design a world-class AC adapter? Bizarre.

DO NOT BUY THIS.
Bought this to replace my factory Dell charger that came with my laptop. This worked okay for a short while but then the blur light randomly began turning off showing that it was not getting power. I noticed that if I moved the wiring a certain way it would turn back on.Fast forward another couple of weeks, it stopped working altogether. I noticed a bump on the black casing covering the wires, I removed that area of the casing to see if that’s where the trouble was. The red wire was completely burned out at that section. Thinking that there were probably more issues than that, I removed the rest of the casing around the wires. I noticed small bumps all along the red, blue, and green wires. I stripped away these areas and found that the wiring in these locations was either completely broken off, or only connected by 1 or 2 wire strands. After stripping and soldering all of these areas that I found, the charger works perfectly.Terrible product, good practice for soldering though. All of the grey tape is where the wire was broken or almost broken.

Works perfect on Dell Studio 1737, fast charging, cool running replacement for original.
After several months without my favorite laptop, it’s finally up and running again! Fully charged the battery from 4% charge to 100% in under two hours with laptop off, and in under 15 minutes running. Gets a little warmer than normal body temperature, but no more. This is the alternative replacement for the under-powered OEM original sold with the laptop that NEVER worked right and always generated error messages, while at the same time scorching or melting anything that it touched.

Doing the job.
3 months in and no issues and been running almost nonstop. The laptop I got came with the wrong power adapter (90W from craigslist) and the guy stopped the flag of the “power adapter is not providing enough power”. So I bought this to fix the problem that flew under my radar. I see several other reviewers before me having problems with it so I will be sure to come back and edit this if things change for the worst.

Looks Good but Nonfunctional
I use my computer for work — if my computer doesn’t function my income grinds to a halt. So when I noticed my computer cord beginning to fray I started looking for a replacement right away. I went to the Dell site but the prices gave me sticker shock. I saw this item and its MUCH cheaper price and decided to take a chance. This item looked good coming out of the box. It had all the right labels but didn’t feel quite substantial enough to be an OEM product. My suspicions were confirmed when I plugged the cord into my computer. It did not power my Latitude E6400 laptop AT ALL, although it’s supposedly compatible. I tried removing and re-inserting the cord, with no luck. I’m glad the order was fulfilled by Amazon — I requested a refund immediately, packed this puppy up and sent it back. That’s what I get for trying to save a few bucks by sidestepping Dell’s high prices.UPDATE: I bit the bullet and ordered the adapter directly from Dell. I lucked out and was able to take advantage of a promotion for free express shipping so I placed my order the Monday before Christmas and received it on Christmas Eve. Right out of the box my computer recognized the genuine Dell product and powered right up. I’ve learned my lesson. No more mucking around with supposed OEM products. Unless they’re officially certified OEM or direct from the manufacturer, I’m not even going to consider them.

Mostly good product; a little annoying (but see update)
This is my second power adapter replacement. The first replacement worked fine, but over time the cord bent unavoidably between the laptop and the bit that lights up, it pulled apart until the wires were exposed, and all our innovations to keep it together failed until the wires frayed and it stopped working. This one, the plug slips out of the laptop at the slightest movement. It works fine so far, but that constant slippage is annoying.Update: 7/20/2021 – same thing happened with the plug as with the first one. Based on previous experience, it won’t be long before it’s unusable.

Honestly I was kinda iffy about getting the charger because of the reviews but it works great and its half the price of the chargers on dells website. Good for Dell N5110-15R Laptop!!
This item came on time (I used my prime 2-day shipping), and it is exactly the same as the charger that I had originally received with my Dell N5110-15R laptop. Plugged it in and it worked right away. No problems since, but it’s only been a couple weeks. I don’t foresee any problems with this charger outside of the normal problems with these chargers (the plastic cracks by the light of the charging jack and eventually, it quits charging the battery. My original lasted approx. 2-3 years, so I expect the same from this one. I recommend this as a replacement for my model of Dell laptop, though I can’t vouch for other models.

Great quality and value.
Ordered (2) of these units for the same price as (1) unit from Mr. Dell’s website. I’m always weary of power supplies, batteries, and other ‘perishible’ electronics so I thought that it one did not work I would still have the other– both work correctly under load. I tested each unit with my multimeter prior to hooking it up to my Dell XPS laptop and everything is within spec. I am now the happy owner of 2 of these, one I leave plugged in, the other stays in my briefcase.

Ordered it after my original laptop power adaptor made a loud popping sound and stopped working. My PC is larger in size, so a 90W back-up adaptor I had didn’t fully power the computer. This one arrived the day after I ordered it, worked perfectly, and hasn’t given me any problems yet. My only complaint would be its size and bulkiness….. but I assume that all 130W power adaptors are probably bigger and bulkier.

Broke after 2 Months
I bought this as a replacement to my original Dell charger. I bought one for my office and one for my home so I didn’t have to transport them back and forth. The cord gets moved around some in my home as I use it, but not a significant amount. The plastic started to break away from the block after about a month exposing wire and I just picked it up to mention that it was dangerous and it sparked something fierce. Thanks for a fire hazard! Now I have to go into the office to see if the other one is also defective and apt to start a fire.

Brand New -OEM Dell Product – Good Value
Just as good as the original Dell power supply that failed after +10 years. It gets warm, but so did the original unit so that’s normal. As you may know, Dell Direct charge very high prices so buy this unit on Amazon for the best deal.

Does the job.
So far so good. I needs this as my previous charger was worn out so much that my laptop would give me an error if I turned it with my old charger. This charger doesn’t result in that and charges my laptop.

Better Priced than Some Similar Units
I waited to write a review to make sure the unit held up. It has. And I wanted to make sure I didn’t see the “not a recognized changer” message you get with some charges. I have not seen to message even once. I will most likely order another one.

Perfect match!
It is exactly like the one my girls broke when they kept yanking it out of the laptop. It works perfectly and they learned a lesson when I waited 3 weeks to order it! Hopefully we are good now but I’m thankful for suppliers like this that are honest and reliable.

Solid product!
I bought this for my cousin’s notebook and she is very pleased. Her original blew out and this unit replaced it. I highly recommend this product to all who need it. It works well and is built to last.
